I call BS, but I'm sure she'll return in some form. I think they have enough spin offs now. On one of the downloadable commentaries, Catherine was talking about her last day on set. So she's not coming back for the xmas special. I'm guessing a small return with Rose (the xmas special looks like it's set on modern (well +1 year) day Earth) and then Jenny for the half year 5 next year? Nice choice. That standalone episode was written by the wonderful Steven Moffat, who also made Press Gang and Coupling. There's talk he'll take over the show in a few years time, and I hope its true.
